From The Tayyibaat (Sisters)
One of the responsibilities placed upon us as Muslim women is that of looking after the health of our families- parents, grandparents, husbands, children- and ourselves. As with every other aspect of life, Islaam has guidelines and answers for us as we ponder how to live healthy, productive lives, as well as how to cure or treat illnesses that do occur. In this Circle, we are going to discuss many aspects of healthy living, including, but not limited to, maintaining health, controlling weight, healthy eating and exercise, spiritual and physical well-being, supplications, baby care, children's illnesses, vaccinations, care of the elderly, general illnesses, beauty and bath- all with a focus on home care as much as possible.
As in every other aspect of Islaam, knowledge is necessary for correct action. With the advent of the internet age, information regarding health and natural healing methods is at your fingertips- but we must always remember to look at this information from an Islamic perspective, insh'Allaah, to reap the most benefit from it. In this circle we will consider Prophetic medicine itself, as well as herbalism and holistic healing in a more general sense- but all looked at through the framework and lens of Islaam. In addition, we will highlight two herbs every month, looking at them from many different angles, with a focus on how to make these herbs a part of your everyday life, insh'Allaah. Indeed, Allaah has blessed us with so many paths to health; we will look into these and begin to use them, and insh'Allaah this will increase us in thankfulness for Allaah's mercy and bounty upon us.
Insh'Allaah I hope that you will join me in this journey to knowedge of natural health and healing.
