Re: [New Article] The Real Beauty Part (1)

MaashaaAllaah this article was really touching. For me, as a teen, it capsized the entire methodology many from my peers hold about beauty. And that is--- that beauty is synonomous to everything that has to do with physical attributes. Ironic, but this chain of thought is not firmly rooted in any EXACT criteria for WHAT attributes are beautiul. And the end results are nothing more than a psychotic, emotional roller coaster. Seriously. "Narrow hips? great! narrow hips? sorry, bad..." "Cherry lips? wow! Cherry lips? oh." " Curly fro? where did you get that done?? curly fro? that is soo seventies." This last eidul 'Adha, we went to a nearby masjid to attend the salaah. Almost every single teenaged girl that I looked at, was wearing a prom dress. Literally. WIth "hijaabs" wrapped around there throats. It was like an open market, for young men and women. Almost everyone---even some adults!--- were dolled up in makeup, and nailpolish! And one girl had the audacity to snicker at me peeping wide eyed from behind my niqaab. I wouldn't dare paint an image of saintly inner beauty for myself--not in the least. But I most certainly am not trying to have a Beyonce/HannahMontanna EId, either. AllaahulMusta'aan. So this article was inspiring because it pinpointed the fact that: no REAL beauty can be attained, without eemaan. No REAL beauty is everlasting except the one that is attained through eemaan. And, when it all boils down to it: no REAL beauty really matters, except the one cultivated from within...which is from eemaan.
